A letter to the World,

Dear World,

What in the world without children? No laugh, no sunshine. I am a child. And I am dying because of malnutrition, and it leads me to mortal. Imagine you in a family, without me around you, it’s fine but it’s not complete. When you take a look at the outside now, me and so many of my friends don’t get what we should have. Some of us don’t have parents; some of us don’t get food, love, childhood, and life. We are facing abusing, abduction, and mortality. And mortality becomes the worst one.

Mortality is one of big problems in the world. Child mortality, also known as under-5 mortality, refers to the death of infants and children under the age of five. In 2010, 7.6 million children under five died, down from 8.1 million in 2009, 8.8 million in 2008, and 12.4 million in 1990. About half of child deaths occur in Africa. Approximately 60 countries make up 94% of under five child deaths. Reduction of child mortality is the fourth of the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, I read it from UNICEF, press relief September 2010. I also read from UNICEF, most child deaths (and 70% in developing countries) result from one the following five causes or a combination thereof: acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, measles, malaria, malnutrition

You can see, my friends died without able to see the world. Poverty becomes “a child killer” and one of crucial problems in the world.  In the world’s poorest countries, including my country, over 30,000 children under the age of five die each day from preventable causes related to conditions of extreme poverty. Poverty leads to some factors that cause under 5-mortality, one of them is malnutrition. I heard that The World Health Organization said that poverty-related malnutrition is the key factor in over half of all childhood deaths. My friends and I couldn’t get the right nutrition for our age. It causes we couldn’t grow well. Malnutrition leads to some disease for us. Some of the common disease that attack malnourished children are acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, measles and malaria, ad those diseases lead to mort. When you suffering from this illness, you can feel what I feel, it really hurts. I’m so in pain.

My mom, you can see her, she is my angel. But she is unlucky. She is poor and uneducated. Uneducated mother also one of the factors that leads into children mortality. Poverty brings my mother doesn’t care about her pregnancy. She just does a little for her pregnancy because she has no choice to do more for her pregnancy. Besides lack of education about pregnancies, the condition is impossible for her to give her best for me.

Children, including me,   are the key of the world. Without us who will be the next generation? Who will take care of this Earth? Our future is in our hands, so it is your job, who far luckier than me, to take care of us. Children mortality should be reduced. There is still hope to save us. We can avoid death, but we can still reduce the amount of children mortality. And still there is a way to save us.

The first step is you can do some interventions that contribute to preventing malnutrition include improved water supply, sanitation and hygiene, health education for a healthy diet, improved access, by the poor, to adequate amounts of healthy food, and ensuring that industrial and agricultural development do not result in increased malnutrition. I see it in television, I see a very good sanitation, I see them eat good food, and I want to be like them.

Maybe you can do free illumination for my kind, poverty people. You can give us information about healthy lifestyle and then you can help me to improved water supply, sanitation and hygiene, we really are need it. It becomes very important for us to get health water. You can also build education center for poverty to give them health education and improved access of healthy food.

Education for my mom and other mothers is very important. The mother to be should have enough knowledge about pregnancies so they can take care of their pregnancies and their baby in a right and healthy way. Mother is the key for a children life. So, it is needed for the mother to be to get enough information about pregnancies, health food, and nutrition for the children. Although they live in poverty, if they know the information of good way for taking of children, the mortality will reduce.

I write this to knock your heart, that there is still me and my friends who still need your help. There is hope ad there is way to save us. We need you, World.
