Learning Korean Trough K-Pops: Miss A and F(X) (By:Popo)

Diposting oleh Popo... The Kite Runner di 05.27

Dear readers…

I’ve finally prepared K-Pop songs. Can you guess which singers and song will be on this article?

I will introduce “Miss A” the 4-member girlband.
Ji and Fei are the Chinese member.

And Suzy and Min are the Korean members of "Misss A".

They will try to be class “A” in singing, dance, and popularity. This is what the name of their group means. When they debuted with the song, “Bad Girl Good Girl” in 2009, they attracted a great deal of attention with their talent and powerful dance. “Goodbye Baby” with its addictive rhythm and powerful performance helped spur the popularity of “Miss A”.

Nae ireumeun sujiga aninde…

The song was famous for these lyrics. “Goodbye Baby” is Miss A’s most well known song.
And it expresses their feeling truthfully. Do you want to know how they feel? Let’s see the lyrics.

Good bye, baby good bye 뒤돌아서 그대로 앞으로 가면 돼
Good bye, baby good bye dwidoraseo geudaero apeuro gamyeon dwae

아무런 말도 하지 말고 이대로 사라져 주는 거야
amureon maldo haji malgo idaero sarajyeo juneun geoya

Baby good bye, good bye
Baby good bye, good bye

내 이름은 수지가 아닌데 자꾸만 실수로 수지라 부를 때

nae ireumeun sujiga aninde jakkuman silsuro sujira bureul ttae

그때 알아 차려야 했어 왜 애써 너를 믿어 주려 했는지 몰라
geuttae ara charyeoya haesseo wae aesseo neoreul mideo juryeo haenneunji molla

(니가 어떤 앤지 알았어) 괜히 울지 마

(niga eotteon aenji arasseo) gwaenhi ulji ma

(너의 물건들 다 내놨어) 연기는 이제 그만
(neoui mulgeondeul da naenwasseo) yeongineun ije geuman

Good bye, baby good bye 뒤돌아서 그대로 앞으로 가면 돼
Good bye, baby good bye dwidoraseo geudaero apeuro gamyeon dwae

아무런 말도 하지 말고 이대로 사라져 주는 거야
amureon maldo haji malgo idaero sarajyeo juneun geoya

Good bye, baby good bye 즐거웠어 재미있었다고 생각할게
Good bye, baby good bye jeulgeowosseo jaemiisseotdago saenggakhalge

그러니 여기까지 하기 너의 쇼는 이제 끝난 거야

geureoni yeogikkaji hagi neoui syoneun ije kkeutnan geoya

Baby good bye, good bye
Baby good bye, good bye

친구들이 모두 다 말릴 때 그때 그 얘길 들었어야 했는데

chingudeuri modu da mallil ttae geuttae geu yaegil deureosseoya haenneunde

왜 나는 너의 그 눈빛이 진실치 못하다는 걸 전혀 몰랐는지

wae naneun neoui geu nunbichi jinsilchi motadaneun geol jeonhyeo mollanneunji

(뛰어난 너의 그 연기가) 정말 놀라워
(ttwieonan neoui geu yeongiga) jeongmal nollawo

(너무 뛰어나서 결국엔) 날 울리고 말았어

(neomu ttwieonaseo gyeolgugen) nal ulligo marasseo

어쩜 삐거덕 삐거덕 거리는 소리 하나도 없이

eojjeom ppigeodeok ppigeodeok georineun sori hanado eobsi

그렇게 구렁이 넘어가듯 부드럽게 속였지
geureoke gureongi dam neomeogadeut budeureopge nal sogyeotji

참 대단한 쇼를 봤어 내가 니 덕에 표도 안 사고 다

cham daedanhan syoreul bwasseo naega ni deoge pyodo an sago da

공짜로 좋은 자리에 딱 하지만 No 이제는 Bye bye
gongjjaro joheun jarie ttak hajiman No ijeneun Bye bye

When you listen and read carefully to “Goodbye Baby”, the song is about a girl who is breaking up with her boyfriend because he confuses her name with someone else’s. “Gwaenhi ulji ma” (don’t cary) and “yeongineun ije geuman” (stop acting). “Amureon maldo haji malgo” (don’t say a word). The words boldly tell him to leave.

Let’s learn how they express feeling in this song by using words meaning “joyous” and “delightful”. Let’s start with “Jeulgeoptta (즐겁다)”. “Jeulgeoptta (즐겁다)” means joyous with nothing holding you back emotionally. The expression is used when you are feeling relaxed and good. “Jeulgeoptta (즐겁다)”.

Haruga jeulgeoptta. (하루가 즐겁다) àToday is fun.
Yeohaengi jeulgeoptta. (여행이 즐겁다) àThe travel is fun.
Those are the examples.

When you feel relaxed and joyous, you can say “naneun jeulgeoptta (나는 즐겁다)”. And I could answer by saying “nado jeulgeoptta (나도즐겁다)”.

The next expression used was “Jaemiitta (새미있다)”. “Jaemiitta (새미있다)” means that you’re feeling delighted and harmonious.

Deuramaga jaemiitta (드라마가새미있다) à The drama is delightful.
Geu chaegi jaemiitta. ( 그책이새미있다) à That book is delightful.
Geu sarami jaemiitta. (이사람이새미있다) à That person is delightful.
Those are such examples.

Let’s see how “Jaemiitta (새미있다)” is used in another song.

말리부 해변은 아니더라도
malribu haebyeoneun anideorado

금가루 뿌렸니 눈부셔 파도
geumgaru ppuryeossni bunbusho pado

툭툭 털고 아이스크림 가게로
bal teukteuk teolgo aiseukeurim gagero

가십 가득한 TV 재미없어
gaship gadeukhan TV ga jaemi eobseo

한강에서 파란 동해에서
hangangeseo meul paran deonghaeeseo

저 워터 파크에서 재밌게 놀자 어서
jeo wateo pateueso jaemissge nolja eoseo

Do you know the song? That was F(x)’s song. It was “Hot Summer”. The lyrics tell us that TV is undelightful. That’s right.

The opposite of “Jaemiitta (새미있다) is “Jaemieoptta (새미었다)”
Because you don’t feel good watchin TV, you can say “TV ga jaemieoptta”.
“Jaemiitta (새미있다)” and “Jaemieoptta (새미었다)”.

Yeonghwaga jaemieoptta. (영화가 새미었다) à The drama is undelightful.
Chaegi jaemieoptta. (책이 새미었다) à The book is undelightful.
Those are two examples.

The opposite of “Jaemiitta (새미있다) is “Jaemieoptta (새미었다)”. Can you remember?

Then what do you say when you don’t feel good or relaxed? In this case, you can say “Seulpeuda (슬프다)”. “Seulpeuda (슬프다)” expresses a sad and troubling sentiment. You can use the expression for a subject or an object.

Maeumi seulpeuda. (마음이슬프다) à My heart is sad.
Ge yeonghwaga seulpeuda. (그영화가 슬프다) à The drama is sad.
Those are some examples.

What do you think? Is it a bit difficult?
But if you remember, “Jeulgeuptta (즐겁다)”, “Jaemiita (새미있다)”, and “Seulpeuda (슬프다)”, you can express your feeling easily.
So please try to remember!

How did you feel about learning with “Miss A” and “F(x)” today? Jeulgeoptta and jaemiitta? Is that how you felt? Let’s review the words to express our feelings.

If you’re feeling relaxed and good, “Jeulgeoptta (즐겁다)”.
If you’re feeling delightful about something, “Jaemiitta (새미있다)”.
“Jaemieoptta (새미었다)” is the opposite word for “Jaemiitta (새미있다)”.
If you’re feeling sad and troublesome, “Seulpeuda (슬프다)”.

Let’s learn Korean again next time in a delightful and joyous way.
 Until we meet again, annyeong!!!
